Do Google reviews help SEO?
Understand where reviews fit into local visibility and customer confidence, without buying ratings or treating a review count as a ranking guarantee.

Reviews can contribute to local visibility
Google says review quantity and positive ratings can help local ranking. That does not mean a fixed number of reviews buys a particular position. Relevance and distance still matter, and ordinary website rankings are not explained by review count alone.

They also help a customer choose
A review describing a real experience can answer questions a service page cannot. Customers may look at the detail and the business’s response as well as the average rating. Avoid making the review process purely about collecting a number.
Reply in a way that acknowledges the experience without revealing private information. For health, legal or other sensitive services, even confirming details of the relationship can be inappropriate.
Build a fair request process
- Invite honest feedback after a genuine customer experience.
- Make the review link easy to use.
- Ask consistently rather than screening customers by expected rating.
- Do not offer a reward for posting or changing a review.
- Use the platform’s reporting process for suspected policy violations.

Do review replies improve rankings?
A helpful response can demonstrate care to a prospective customer. Do not claim that adding keywords to replies creates a predictable ranking boost. Write for the person who left the review and the people assessing your business.
If visibility is poor, use the profile ranking diagnosis rather than assuming reviews are the only missing ingredient.
How Sitewell supports the work
Complete includes Business Profile management and prepared customer review replies. The business still needs an honest review process and accurate service information. Review activity should sit alongside website improvements, not replace them.
